Hockey Bets 04/18

Kurt Kuklewicz

Tonight is actually pretty action packed for a Monday. We are blessed with a better schedule than the typical lone Yotes / Montreal game this time, yay! As a result, I too am stepping it up with 6 bets (5 straight and 1 parlay). Normally, Mondays are my day off or maybe one bet here and there. But I'll be damned if the NHL is going to out-duel me today. I double dipped on one game, actually, one player in particular. There is a bonus parlay that I am playing a 25% profit boost from Draftkings with as well if you feel adventurous to tail / fade / watch. The profit boosts are nice, but I only like to use them on odds that are greater than +150 or so. They work best with parlays, in my opinion. A +720 3 leg parlay becomes a +900 3 leg parlay, which really makes a huge difference in payout. It is much better than a +100 going to +125... I know it's riskier though obviously.

Elias Lindholm ov2.5 shots on goal (-110)

Elias Lindholm anytime goal scorer (+156) @ Chicago

It is time to once again Walk With Elias! In the last 5 games, he has hit over 2.5 shots in 4 out of 5 games, totaling 21 shots in this span. He is also just one goal away from his first ever 40 goal season, and you have to like his odds against Chicago and Kevin Lankinen. It's really simple- he is going to shoot the puck a lot until he gets that 40th goal. That is my theory, and you can't convince me otherwise. Players know when they are just one off milestone markers. Additionally, Elias did score a goal in their last meeting in early January.

Brady Tkachuk ov0.5 points @ Seattle (-150)

Brady has been firing away recently, with 20 shots in the last 4 games played. More impressively, he has 12 points in the last 8 games. Somehow, Seattle is a favorite in this game, which I disagree with personally. The Sens have been giving a lot of top teams trouble, including making life difficult for the Toronto Maple Leafs. They were also a nuisance to the Jets (but lost by one goal), and they bested the fricking Bruins. A large part of this has been Brady's play. Seattle has been far from impressive this season, as they are 3rd worst overall. I can really see them struggling in this matchup to contain a lot of goals. We will visit this game again in our bonus 3 game parlay later.

Shayne Gostibehere un0.5 points VS Carolina (-180)

I won't go into much detail on this one, but the Coyotes have reverted to playing pretty poor lately. Ghost is on a cold streak with 1 point in the last 6 games and Carolina is still going strong for points, meaning they will play hard for this game. They lock down their opponents very well when they get in a nice groove. I've seen them just clamp an early lead down on offensive talented teams like Toronto and Tampa Bay. Imagine what they can do Arizona. I'm viewing this as a quick shot in the arm for a half-unit, with a better play than taking Carolina ML out-right.

Evgeny Kuznetsov ov2.5 shots on goal @ Colorado (-110)

Kuzy draws the Avs tonight, and earlier this year, he had a game against them where he had 1 goal, 2 assists and 7 shots on goal recorded, against their best goalie, Darcy Kuemper. Kuzy has a nice 7 game run with 9 points, including where he shot 3 or more shots on net in 4 out of 7 games. He had 0 shots against Montreal, where honestly he didn't need to even bother shooting the puck, because the game was a blowout. Kuzy is a pass-first player, but he still takes his chances when he needs to and he usually executes well. I still have haunting flashbacks during their Stanley Cup win, when Kuznetsov scored the game winning goal in overtime to eliminate my Penguins in game 6, during the 2nd round. In April, Colorado has been winning a lot of games (7-0-0) and scoring goals at an insane level (5.0 per game). However, they average 38.6 shots against in 7 games thus far this month. Teams are starting to shoot on them, probably to be able to out-pace them, and this is good for us shot prop bettors.

3 game parlay

Ottawa / Seattle ov6 total goals

NJ Devils +1.5 puck line @ Vegas

Vancouver ML VS Dallas

+720 boosted to +900

This is a nice parlay that I boosted on Draftkings. I originally took the Devils to win the match-up outright but I thought that was a bit aggressive and watered it down with the +1.5 puck line. Lehner is back in net, and his game has been off a little bit since he initially returned from injury about 2 weeks ago (outside of the Arizona game and the first Vancouver game). Vancouver has been playing well and on a 5 game win streak, including 26 goals (with 16 scored in the 3 games at home). Ottawa and Seattle should at the very least end up in a 4-2 finish (or push for us), but more likely to be 4-3, 5-2, etc.
