Oof, what a Saturday blow-up, especially with the late add of Cole Caufield over 0.5 points we included on our Twitter, and then the Cole Train finally stops running. It's a very sad day- he was finally starting to get negative odds on the overs for point totals, but he will not be forgotten. Of course, Claude Giroux had the last laugh when we stupidly took him for over a point even after we basically berated the Flyers team, management and Claude's game-play for the last 12+ seasons he was captain in Philly. I still indirectly blame Antii Raanta though, he was suppose to start or at least I figured Freddie Andersen would get the Penguins today instead (and he still might). Oh well, it's all water under the bridge now. Today has 10 games, but I'm in need of mixing in some game pick'ems. Keep an eye on our Twitter too, I noticed a lot of the player props come in much later than usual on the weekends. Let's get back to work:
Nathan MacKinnon anytime goal scorer VS Calgary (+150)
I refuse to let my bread and butter and secret weapon, the anytime goal scorer go negative this week. MacKinnon has scored a goal in 9 out of the last 12 games, including one against Calgary about 2 weeks ago. Have you seen this guy's shot total? It is almost unworldly. 55 shots in the last 8 games. Just for kicks, he sprinkled in a nice 14 shot game against Winnipeg (oh Winnipeg you say? perfect team to beat shot overs against). I'm pretty sure he surpassed the shot total of the Arizona Coyotes on some nights. Well, I was still looking for under 14 shots, but I did find 17 shots for and 15 shots for in two games this year for Arizona. MacKinnon's level of playing can best be described like when somebody who played in Juniors B from Saskatoon decides to join your casual Thursday night townie beer league. Pure domination, it's just unfair. Give me Nate for a goal tonight at these +150 odds. Get this man some cookies!
Montreal o2.5 Team Total Goals @ Philadelphia (-130)
In the last 13 games played, Philly has let up 3 or more goals 11 times. Carter Hart did have a nice gem against Vegas recently, but Vegas is playing very sus now and below their potential since they inherited and played with the great team killer, Jack Eichel. Are we aware that since Marty St. Louis took over as head coach for Montreal, the team has a found a nice grove? In the last 10 games, Montreal is now 7-2-1 and they have scored 3 or more goals in 9 of those games. Philly is favored to win, probably because it looks like Cayden Primeau is going to start for Montreal, but I do believe they are hard to stop now.
Nashville @ Minnesota o6 goals (-120)
Nashville was just involved in an 11 goal game, and that was with Jusse Saros in net. Minnesota has definitely had its issues with goaltending and defense (as they are frequently featured by us as great player props against), but they did get back on track a bit recently with only 2 goals allowed and a shootout goal to Columbus. In their October 24th matchup, the Preds won 5-2, when they stormed the first period with 3 goals, almost chasing Kappo Kahkonen by the 8 minute mark of the first. I'm not exactly sure who will win this time, but I think there's too much offensive firepower, especially with the way the first line of the Preds have played lately to ignore the over.
