Starting off with momentum is how you want to start your week betting. Sometimes, we get a no-brainer +200, and yesterday, we were blessed with the -1.5 puck line for Ottawa over the Devils at home for +195. The Devils are playing so bad right now, that a -2.5 alternate puck line did at least cross my mind for better odds. But alas, we are trying to be boring and break away from impulse. Onto the bets for tonight with a decent slew of games!

Tyler Toffoli o2.5 shots on Goal VS NJD (-135)

You don't mess with success. Let's ride this Devils thing out and see how long we can take advantage of their bad play. Toffoli has been scoring and shooting the puck nicely lately. He also has 3 shots or more in 7 out of the last 8 games, he's skating on the top line and top powerplay, next to Suzuki, at home (okay, well the home advantage is not much anymore in Canada these days, but still). What's not to like here?

Joel Eriksson Ek o0.5 powerplay points @ WPG (+290)

With a 2-6-2 record in the last 10 games, Winnipeg has reverted to full Coyote mode. The Wild Powerplay has been hot lately, and Eriksson Ek is still centering the top unit. Additionally, he also potted two powerplay goals in their first meeting of the regular season this year. We also like Zuccarello and Kaprizov in this game, but the odds are almost halved for their powerplay abilities. This is a nice hedge for the other bets we place tonight, if they all go wrong (god please be with us). Powerplay points can be very random, but I will point out that Winnipeg has the 5th lowest PK% this year. And we all thought that Paul Maurice was the problem. How the tables have turned.

Vegas Golden Knights o2.5 goals 60 min @ EDM (-160)

Two words should give you more confidence in this bet; Mike Smith. With his most recent 4 starts, he has let up 3 or more goals in 60 minutes or less. Vegas is back to scoring at will again this season, including the last 2 games when we got the rare form of Brett Howden. They are currently in 4th for goals scored in the league. I don't know if Mike Smith makes it the distance in this one. Therefore, I would like to congratulate him on his 40+ save shutout in advance tonight!

Arizona +1.5 Puck line @ Vancouver (-135)

Arizona is a sleeper pick here tonight to win outright, but I like the puck line as a safety net. Vancouver has recently been involved in many low scoring games and Arizona has had a rough schedule recently. Here have been their opponents in the last 11 games: Colorado THREE times, Montreal, New Jersey, Islanders, Rangers, Penguins, Bruins, Flames and the Sabres. Considering that they beat all the teams they should have beat except Buffalo (Montreal and New Jersey), this was not such a bad result. They even beat Colorado once, and lost to them in a shootout another time. Also, the money is slowly being dumped on the puck line here. The Yotes puck line was -105 or -115 last night when I checked. In fact, in just the amount of time spent writing this article it went from -130 to -135. Vegas knows something...
