Hockey Bets 03/27

Kurt Kuklewicz

Deja vu! Today we lean on at two players that were featured in our articles earlier this week. This can be tricky, as continually betting on the same player can prove unwise. Once a player is hot and keeps scoring points, two things can happen negatively. Their lines / odds may change entirely (ex. going from 0.5 points to 1.5 or the odds of a logging a point going to -205) or they inevitably end their run because of an off-day, bad luck, line shuffling / deployment or injuries. However, if there are still opportunities to take advantage of lines with hot players or trends, I will gladly take those. We have done this profitably with practically any Cole Caufield line at the beginning of his hot streak or any Power-play point line against Seattle (thank you Kopitar for the +240 o0.5 PPP last night!) Here are 3 bets for today, but keep your eyes glued to our Twitter for more later as more lines become available.

Anders Lee o0.5 points VS Tampa (-115)

Anders Lee and the Islanders have been on a run lately, if you take out the pummeling they received against Boston yesterday. It's important to zoom out, the Isles are still playing pretty well despite the 6 goal against performance. Lee did snag two points here. Lee has seven points in the last 3, and 11 goals in the last 11 games. I had money in both of these team's games yesterday, so I saw a good chunk of playtime for each on ESPN+. It's important to understand- Brock Nelson has been amazing, with 30 goals in just 54 games played this season. Lee is benefiting from this, but he also has 25 goals himself. I remember some games earlier in the season, when he was buried down to the 3rd line for a time. It seems like so long ago now. Looks like that 3rd line deployment "punishment" is now applying to Barzal for what it's worth, who had a rough couple of giveaways and pass attempts yesterday. Meanwhile, Tampa looked a little flat in their game with Detroit, they weren't shooting very much until the end of the game during a power-play. If it weren't for a very determined Steven Stamkos who logged a goal, an assist and about 40 shot attempts in the last 10 minutes, they would have definitely lost that game. The moneyline for NYI at +135 is really tempting, but watching that defense yesterday worries me just enough to avoid it. We will just have to beLEEive in the first line of New York while Tampa tries to work through their struggling recently.

Kevin Hayes o0.5 points @ Nashville (-110)

Kevin Hayes is the best skater for the Flyers right now. It's not even close to me when I watch their games. He is consistently making great plays happen, and right now he is in a different zone. Every time he enters the puck in the offensive zone, I'm waiting for a score to happen. I'm betting a Hayes point at -110 while he has great line deployment and is riding hot. Nashville just got lit up in the last two games against LA and Vegas. Let's not over-think it.

Florida Panthers Moneyline @ Toronto (+105)

The Petr Mrazek saga continues today. He has been confirmed starter, and that's really all I needed to see to bet Florida today. But seriously, Florida is 9-1-1 in the month of March and they only improved their team at the deadline. They also had the firepower to erase a 3 goal deficit against Ottawa and win in the shootout. Let me just add that Giroux looks very comfortable with 4 assists in the Florida jersey. Although it is very odd looking still.
