That settles it. I am no longer posting power-play point player props. Jack Hughes had 2 points including a goal, 3 shots on goal, an apple last night to start the 1st period. That was just 20 minutes. He literally shattered every prop line he had, except power-play points, the one we took. Chicago played pretty disciplined, giving Jersey only two power-play opportunities, and that lies the issue with betting overs on power-play points. Oh well. It was a good bet on paper at least. The other two props also failed, leaving us 0/3 on the night. Vegas was upset by Arizona 1-3, and Anaheim failed to log any momentum against LA, losing 1-4. Onto the next one. It's starting to feel like the schedule is beginning to get normal again after this mix and match of Corona make-up games. 10 games on the slate today. I call on the king of player props to grace us with his presence again, and please for the love of god save us this week. 6 player props for you today:
Sam Reinhart o0.5 points VS Edmonton (-165)
Reinhart comes into this game with 12 points in his last 8 games, and it seems like Florida is always in these crazy 7-3, 6-1, 6-2 games. You'll definitely remember Leon Draisaitl, when he "got all pissy" with a reporter, this year after being asked a question at a press conference. At least he gave an answer. What you may not remember is that the very next game, the Oilers played the Panthers and got absolutely WRECKED, 0-6. Sam had 3 assists in this game. He had 0 shots in this game, so watch the 2.5 shot line trap. The fact of the matter is that Sam Reinhart is a pretty good playmaker, as evidenced by his point total. 49 games played this year in the Sunshine state and he has 49 points, which 31 are apples. I think the assist over can be profitable here at +125 too, but I'm confident he logs a point in this one.
Cam Atkinson u0.5 points VS Washington (+105)
Cam has taken a bit of a hit recently this year, after a hot start. He has just 1 point in the last 6 games. He was still skating with Giroux in the last game, but he was paired with some other guy named Ratcliffe on the other wing (not Daniel, unfortunately). It also appears that he has been bumped to the 2nd powerplay, which the first unit already was struggling to begin with. Philly is 30th best in the league with just a 14.2% on the power-play. Given our recent performance with under point props, you may want to congratulate Cam for a hat-trick today on Twitter preemptively. The odds for that are at +5500 on Barstool Sportsbook, if you wanted to be a wise-guy and go with our awful performance in under player props.
Alex Formenton u0.5 points VS Montreal (-170)
This is strictly a deployment play. Formenton had a few hot games last month, but he's cooled off sensationally. In the last 13 games played, he has just 3 points, and 0 in the last 5. At yesterday's practice lines, he was on the 4th line with Chris Tierney and Tyler Ennis. He currently isn't even listed on a power-play line. Obviously, this could all change with a quick move of the "coaching blender", but Montreal has only let up 6 goals in the last 4 games, regardless.
Steven Stamkos anytime goal scorer @ Nashville (+140)
Stammer is heating up with 4 goals in the last 3 games. In their six last meetings (all last year), Stamkos has been a coaching nightmare for Smashville. They just cannot figure out how to contain him. He had a total of 6 goals in those 6 games last year. We know he loves to score on the extra man advantage, and there's some great news here. Nashville has been short-handed the MOST times out of every team in the league this year. Their penalty kill percentage is about average, but they absolutely cannot afford to take a bunch of penalties against Tampa Bay. This boosts Stammer's chances of scoring a goal again tonight.
Matthew Boldy o0.5 points @ Calgary (+100)
The young rookie has been recently added to the 1st power-play unit, but he has also been getting more ice-time and added responsibility too. 17 points in 18 games is an amazing feat for Boldy so far. I think the most likely place to pick up a point is against the 3rd line of Calgary, which has Tyler Toffoli, Boring Sean Monahan and Milan Lucic. This odd pairing just recently gave up 8 shots during even strength in their last game. Meanwhile, Kevin Fiala is clipping shots with 24 in the last 5 games. There's a great chance the line of Boldy - Fiala and Freddie Gaudreau get on the board once tonight.
Michael Bunting o2.5 shots @ Detroit (+130)
Michael Bunting really started to get more attention when he came onto the scene with a hat-trick on January 29th against Detroit. He had 7 shots this game and his line-mates were Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews for a great portion of the game. Actually, I can see that the deployments were put in the "coaching blender" and mixed around throughout the game, but he scored 2 of the last 3 with those Marner and Matthews. The lineup hasn't really been split up much since this stuck though. You have to think that Bunting is going to fire the net, remembering what he did to Detroit just a little less than a month ago. There are good odds for Bunting to find twine too, +210 for anytime goal scorer and +1200 to find twine twice. Just food for thought.
