Hockey Bets 02/25

Kurt Kuklewicz

There are so many weird and redundant things happening to me lately. Two days ago when I won that 3/3 parlay on our bets, I was having a beer in my chair that is named "It's Complicated Being a Wizard" from Burlington Beer Company (highly recommend by the way), which is a beer that is not ultra-rare but you certainly can't find it everywhere. It's not like this is a staple gas station beer or something. So I started scrolling through Facebook when a friend posted a picture of him drinking the same exact beer. He sent it no less than 8 minutes prior. I thought that was a really odd coincidence.

Yesterday, an oil truck appeared in front of my house with a delivery I ordered. Or so I thought. I go through a discount supplier so they choose whoever is local for the oil, so it can be from any local oil company. But the oil guy took the hose to my neighbor's house across the street, instead. Having already paid for it to lock in a good price (and boy am I glad I did), I walked outside to speak with him. The worker had already started pumping the oil into my neighbors' house. So I'm like "wait, is that for me, dude? I have a delivery today. I think you are pumping the wrong house". Nope, no chance, he is 100% sure that my neighbor happened to order a delivery for oil on the same exact day. He drives off, and then it's approaching 4:30, 5:00; still no oil delivery for me. I called the company I ordered through and they ensured me it's still on the way. Sure enough, an oil truck rolls by my driveway at around 5:15. What are the odds of that? Feels like a sign that we are hitting some crazy odd happenings; maybe we're about the win the big one! Here's today's player prop bets:

Jack Hughes o0.5 Power-Play Points @ Chicago (+245)

I don't think a single one of our power-play bets that were featured on Stat Glitchers hit yet. So we are due! I liked this bet initially in the morning when I looked at it, but it seemed too difficult to hit with Marc-Andre Fleury in net. Guess what though? He is not starting tonight! We get Kevin Lankinen tonight!!! Best of all, the line remained unchanged at +245 for Hughes, great value in my opinion. Lanky has not played in over a month and the last 3 games he started, he gave up a combined 7 power-play goals. The Devils are playing better offensively and Jack Hughes has been on a very nice run of 8 points scored in the last 5 games. In his first game of the season, Hughes also put up 2 goals on Chicago (against Lankinen). For the amount of betting units that can be won, this is too good to pass on for me. I did struggle with picking against the +175 anytime goal scorer as well. Both are excellent bets for Hughes tonight.

Trevor Zegras o0.5 points VS LA Kings (-120)

Trevor has 6 points in the last 3 games, and he is playing like he wants, no NEEDS to have that Calder trophy. In fact, he just emerged as a favorite, tied with Mo Seider at +225 on Draftkings. Step aside Getzlaf, the Ducks have found a new top line center for the next 15 years. It's time for Zegras to shine. I said it before, and I still like the Ducks as a wild-card team this year. The Kings have been playing excellent lately, and the Ducks will need a secret plan and tremendous effort to beat them. This is where I have liked Zegras the most this year, when it looks like the team is out, he keeps them back in it. It's knucklepuck time!

Shea Theodore o0.5 point @ Arizona (-130)

It's about that time of the year for the Coyotes to start shipping all their best players away. Want Phil Kessel? Sure, you can have him for a mid round pick. We'll even retain half his salary and throw in a ton of hot-dogs for you as a favor. This is where it starts to get really ugly for Arizona, and before you know it, they will be losing games 3-7, 3-6, 0-4 again. Scott Wedgewood has been playing over his head recently, so much that he even scored Arizona a win over the Avalanche and the Dallas Stars. Don't be fooled though. We are just about due for that 5 goal or 6 goal barrage that cycles him back down the depth chart again. It's just a matter of time. Shea has the most points against Arizona out of any Golden Knight in the last 3 years, with 12 points in 13 games. He just logged two assists against Arizona in a game earlier this year. The score was 7-1 in that one.
