Hockey Bets 02/21

Kurt Kuklewicz

It's another typical Monday for hockey with a low amount of games on the table. However, there are a few games with relatively early game starts. I do have five bets on the line for today though. I still like playing player props most, but I will also mix it up with a game bet or two today. Let's a take a look:

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 Puck line @ Philadelphia (+120)

The Flyers are still a MESS and they are letting up a whopping 33.4 shots against opposing teams at home in their last 10 games. Their captain is the subject of many trade rumors, and for all we know, he could be sporting a Hurricane jersey later this year. This is also a good opportunity for the Hurricanes to further their strange-hold on the Metropolitan division. The Flyers have the 3rd least amount of wins at home and their goal differential is -47. Freddie Andersen should be back in net as well. The puck line looks pretty comfortable here for the +120.

Seattle Kraken moneyline @ Vancouver (+140)

I know we are used to those close and defensive Vancouver games, but they have not been having a good February defensively. They have 24 goals against in their last six games, or about 4 goals against on average (maybe slightly less if you count overtime against the Sharks). Thatcher Demko is starting to lose some of his early season appeal as the best American hockey goalie in the league. Seattle has a good chance to take this game tonight. I was able to watch some of the Seattle and Calgary game on Saturday night, and I am actually beginning to feel like this is a real hockey team in the National Hockey League. Give me the upset against Vancouver for +140 please.

Taylor Hall u0.5 points VS Colorado (-105)

This is the last game that the Boston Bruins will be without Brad Marchand and boy, do they ever need him back badly. In the time frame of the last 5 games, without Big Bad Brad, the Bruins have only 7 goals in that timeline. The Colorado Avalanche are still in the top 7 for goals against, and Taylor Hall only factored into 2 of those 7 goals for the Bruins. Darcy Kuemper comes into this game white-hot and he is probable to start.

Blake Wheeler u2.5 shots on goal @ Calgary (-140)

Wheeler has 12 points in the last 5 games, but don't be fooled. He had an 8 shot game against Nashville, but he has only shot above 2 shots in 4 out of the last 13 games. He is mostly dishing the puck out on the power-play for those points. Enter Calgary, who is one of the best defensive teams in the league right now. They have the lowest amount of goals against in the league. Additionally, they only let up 29.04 shots a game for the entire year. At home, in the last 10 games, they have let up just 26.7 shots on net. Factor all of this into consideration, and this seems like a smart bet to take or add to a parlay ticket.

Jared McCann o2.5 shots on goal @ Vancouver (-120)

McCann has 3 or more shots in the last 3 out of 4 games. Vancouver we discussed a little bit earlier, but did you know that in the last 10 games at home, they have let up an average of 33.1 shots on net a game? McCann will continue to get ample opportunity for shots on net tonight. Even if he skating on the third line today, just remember that he is going to draw a more favorable match-up defensively in even strength and will still be on the top power-play.
