Hockey Bets 04/14

It's good to be back and writing up another article for our betting entertainment. It's been awhile since we did an article for hockey bets. Hopefully, you have been following the crazy week we had in Arizona with all the sign up bonuses and everything. As always, we post our plays on our Twitter, @statglitchers. everyday. My performance has been a little average this week, thus far, but there is absolutely a lot to consider today with over 12 games. Let's get stuck in today with some nice momentum to the weekend, where I will be spending more time focusing on sign up bets and bonuses in Pennsylvania. Here are today's bets:
Buffalo Sabres Moneyline 1st Period VS St. Louis (+260)
The Sabres have won a LOT of 1st periods lately. They actually have won 4 out of the last 6 first periods, and their schedule has been rough during this run, so this is an impressive feat, in my opinion. Their opponents during this 6 game stretch include Tampa, Toronto, Carolina (twice) and Florida (twice). I feel that the team gets up often early, and then stalls out the rest of the way or runs into goal-tending trouble. St. Louis has won 6 games in a row and people will come in hot against the "lowly" Sabres, but they are actually a .500 team in the last 10 and have been mostly leading early on in those games, but choking them away late. Also, don't underestimate how erratic goal-tending can be for St. Louis. One day we get a proper version of Jordan Winnington, who is calm and collected and composes himself to 1 goal against. The next game, he's throwing pucks down the ice with his stick at the opposing goalie trying to instigate a fight. If you really want to shoot the moon, betting the 1st period / ML end of regulation prop of Buffalo 1st / St. Louis ML is set at +1200 and is interesting.
Anthony Cirelli o0.5 points VS Anaheim (+105)
Anaheim showed promise early on this season, but as we know, the trade deadline had them moving some people around. Anaheim has given up 21 goals in the last 5 games or about 4.20 (blaze it) goals against on average. Cirelli has been a little quiet lately, but he still has a PP1 spot on the back to back champion's lines and solid even strength linemates with Brandon Hagel and Alex Killorn. This is a great chance for him to break out of his little funk lately. He also leads all Lightning with 5 points scored in games against the Ducks in the last 3 years (3 GP).
Dylan Larkin o2.5 shots @ Carolina (-135)
Larkin has been hot lately for Detroit and he averages over 3.15 shots a game against Carolina in their last 11 games played. He had 4 shots in their last meeting in early March, and also has 3 points scored against them (including 2 goals) in 2 games played this year.
Ilya Mikheyev o2.5 shots VS Washington (+135)
Earlier in the season, Mikheyev had 6 shots against the Capitals in a game. He also managed 9 more in the other 2 games against Washington in his career, although those games were in the 2020 season. Use caution, but I will take the chance for 3 shots tonight at +135 when he's done it in literally every meeting against them in his life, thus far.
Jamie Benn o0.5 points VS Minnesota (-110)
6 points in the last 6 games for Jamie Benn! He has been very consistent, but also, this year the Stars have scored a lot on the Wild. They won the 2nd meeting 7-4, and the last meeting was during Jason Robertson's hat-trick (which was the 2nd game in a row for him at the time). Benn was no stranger to points in these games, as he managed 1 or more point in all 3 meetings. He has a total of 5 in 3 games played against the North Stars, Wild.
Timo Meier Anytime Goal Scorer @ Chicago (+120)
Timo has not scored a goal in over 5 games, but he has 25 shots or 5 per game on average in this stretch. He is on the verge of a huge breakout night. Earlier this year, he scored 2 goals in a game against the Blackhawks. The goalie for that game was Marc-Andre Fleury, so instantly, you know that the opposing goalie tonight is obviously a downgrade this time around. I like Timo to score a goal tonight, but if you have access to bet on multiple goals for one player tonight or need some YOLO max play for a free bet or something, I would give Timo a look. I would not be surprised if he ends up with 2. Barstool sportsbook has him listed at +600 for 2 or more goals tonight.
Nico Hischier o0.5 points @ Colorado (-155)
Colorado is coming off of back-to-back games tonight, and they scored enough to feed a small army of men last night. I think they will be a little complacent tonight, and let up a few goals. Hischier has the best chance on the Devils to get a point, as he is averaging nearly over a point-per-game when Jack Hughes misses games. But he was already taking the next step this season anyway to begin with.
Conor Garland o2.5 shots VS Arizona (+100)
Garland has a revenge game tonight against his old team, and they are getting lit up lately. The Yotes have 22 goals against in the last 4 games. Additionally, Vancouver scored 5 against them in a game during this stretch. Garland made his mark by racking up 2 apples and firing 3 shots on net. He also added a goal and 5 shots in their other meeting this year. Revenge is sweet.
