Hockey Bets 01/26
Kurt Kuklewicz
Today, there are a handful of hockey games that make betting interesting. Here are some bets that look profitable tonight:
Ducks +1.5 Puck Line vs. Toronto (Draftkings -115)
The Ducks take on Toronto after a strong win in Boston. John Gibson did give up three goals against Boston, but he held them off strong late and has racked up a nice string of outings in the past few starts. Prior to Boston's start, Gibson gave up just one goal to each of Tampa, Colorado and Philly (not as impressive as the other two). When you look at the opposite net tonight, Campbell is coming into this game pretty cold for Toronto. Giving up 13 goals in the last 3 games, one has to wonder if Petr Mrazek has taken a piece of the lion's shares back, or will soon (assuming he can stay healthy which is a pretty hopeful assumption). I would be tempted to bet moneyline on this game for Anaheim if it wasn't in Toronto. Regardless, I think it will be a low scoring game tonight with a potential 4-3 or 3-2 win (maybe in overtime for you degenerate Overtime Yes gamblers) as there is potential of Anaheim outright winning if Campbell falters again. This should favor the puck line for Anaheim.
Blackhawks vs. Redwings u5.5 (Draftkings -115)
Kevin Lankinen is NOT in net tonight and that is a good thing for under bettors. Marc-Andre Fleury has been solid recently and the Blackhawks are still having issues giving him offensive support. Believe it or not, Detroit has been pretty favorable to the under recently with exception to their latest losses of Nashville and Detroit. They have been in games under 5 goals 4 out of the last 6 games played. A big reason for this defensive improvement is Ned in net. He draws the start again tonight, in what figures to be a low scoring game. We like the under.
Calgary Flames Moneyline 1st Period @ CBJ (Draftkings +140)
The first line of Tkachuk / Linhdolm and Gaudreau has been on fire lately. Tkachuk has 10 (YES, TEN) points in the past 3 games. More importantly, when you look at the numbers closer, the Flames have been starting these games hot, hot, hot, baby! In the same past 3 games, Calgary has always held a lead heading into the 2nd period and outscored their opponents 7-1. This includes Florida, Edmonton and St. Louis. The chance on the moneyline 1st period in Calgary's favor is just too sweet to overlook here.
3 Player Parlay Prop
So these always are difficult to hit, but our 3 player parlay pick of the night is the following:
Over 0.5 assist (John Carlson VS SJ) +110
Over 0.5 points (Matthew Tkachuk @ CBJ) -215
Over 1.5 shots on goal (Jonathan Toews @ DET) -150
Parlay +412 (Bet $10 to win $51.20)
We already discussed Matthew Tkachuk and his 3.33 points a game in the last three games against quality opponents such as Florida, Edmonton and St. Louis. John Carlson is just recently back in the lineup but he does have some success against the Sharks historically. The chances of an apple look pretty enticing. Understandably, Jonathan Toews has been on a bit of a cold streak recently, but he is still shooting though. Historically, Toews owns the Red Wings. In his last 5 games (dating back 3 years), he has been shooting at a 4.4 clip against Detroit, and they are a better team this year but still let up over 32.7 shots per game. Kane also has a good chance to break 3.5 shots on a goal if you're feeling a little more adventurous.
