Football Bets Week 6
Football Bets Week 6
Kurt Kuklewicz
When you are on a roll, you don't want to stop. This actually caused a bit of an issue in hockey this week, and sank a profitable week when I took 7 bets last night. I'm keeping it simple this week with football though, with just a handful of bets. They all happen to be at 1PM, so see if more gets added on our Twitter page later. Here is what's on tap for Week 6, a week with a four byes:
Kirk Cousins over 261.5 passing yards (-105)
Captain Kirk is facing one of the worst pass defenses in the league and luckily, this game begins at 1PM instead of 8:15. With Skylar Thompson confirmed as the starter for Miami, this should be a boost for the Vikings defense. In theory, the Vikings offense should have more time with the ball, which is great for Kirk's numbers. If they stack an early lead, I don't believe they will let off the gas necessarily until later in the 4th quarter.
Jeff Wilson over 8.5 receiving yards (-110)
Wilson is still the preferred back in SF and he really only needs a reception or two to make this happen. The Falcons have recently let up a lot of short receptions to running backs. In fact, the lead receiver for the Bucs last week against Atlanta was Leonard Fournette with 10 receptions on 11 Targets and 83 yards and a TD. In the last 3 weeks alone, the Falcons have let up 21 receptions to running backs.
Daniel Jones over 0.5 interception (-110)
The Ravens are tied for the league lead in defensive interceptions with 10. Jones has mostly been shielded this year by great rushing play of Saquon Barkley. Baltimore are pretty decent against the run (12th), despite their horrendous passing defense. When you also look at the Ravens points scored, they are 4th best in the league with 138. This game will likely require the Giants to veer away from feeding Saquon the ball 30+ times. He also was banged up last week. Daniel Jones could be duped into a few errors today if he has to make some crucial throws. Maybe we'll see Chad Powers make an appearance in this game. I keep holding out hope.
Najee Harris under 61.5 rushing + rec yards (-135)
Last week, Najee Harris only played on 49% of plays for the Steelers. He is also proving to be ineffective (just 3.2 yards per carry this year), possibly still hampered by that foot injury. I went back and reviewed every single Bucs game, and only one starting running back was able to surpass this line. Clyde Edwards-Helaire posted 92 rushing yards + 2 receiving yards in a week 4 battle against the Bucs. Isiah Pacheco also recorded 63 running yards that same game, but this game was a blowout near the end of the 3rd quarter (38-17). As Jaylen Warren gets more looks, this game could phase out Najee early. I didn't think I'd be saying this earlier in the season, but it's time to take the under on his total yards.
